FAQ

What inspired Elariia?

Elariia was inspired by the Valley of San Pellegrino, located at the base of the Alps (east of Milan). San Pellegrino is a place that mingles legend and myth, where old world blends of flowers, herbs, plants and minerals are unspoiled by time. You can experience the tradition of well being and the magic the flowers of San Pellegrino Valley have to offer through Elariia products.

Where are the products made?

The Institute of Cosemtic Science for Elariia, outside of Venice, Italy, where nature meets science and technology.

How did the Borghese Title come about?

The Borghese family dates back to the 1100s. The family originated in Siena, Italy, where they got into the banking business, which even today, is still represented in Italy. Becoming very wealthy and influential throughout Italy, one of the family members, Camillo Borghese, become Pope Paul V, in 1605. His nephew, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, finished the facade of St. Peter's in Rome (where his name is prominently inscribed), as well as sponsoring most of the work of Bernini, daily on exhibit at the world-renown Borghese Gallery, also in Rome and also built by Cardinal Scipione Borghese.

Titles were then bestowed on the various heads of the Borghese family by Pope Paul V. The Pope, at that time, was equivalent to a King, owning large territories of land, armies, etc. In those days, titles went together with the territories of land owned. (In essence, titles represented: titles to land). Our branch of the family received five different titles, among which: Prince of San Paolo and Prince of Sant'Angelo, and Duke of Bomarzo.

Eventually over time, the possessions and the titles separated. Some were sold, some were given away, and some were even lost in battles. Today, most of the Borghese titles are not related to territories owned, but can be traced through the office of Araldica (Heraldry) in Rome. This office was instituted to keep alive the old traditions, and this is where all past histories are recorded. The public is permitted to ask this office about information pertaining to any titled families.
